The Jade House
Our goal for this new build in Golden, CO, was to design a modern home that blended in with the single-story homes surrounding it, while providing ample space for multi-age family members, two dedicated work-at-home offices, and plenty of areas for entertaining and guests.
We also had our work cut out for us since it was located on a uniquely sloped, triangular lot, and we needed to adhere to a new square footage cap imposed by the city. Despite these challenges, we have managed to create a design that meets all the requirements and more.
As this project progresses, we plan to include outdoor lounge space, a pool, and play areas, taking in the views of the foothills at the back. The house will feature all-electric energy-efficient strategies, plenty of glass to enjoy the views, salvaged original brick from the pre-existing home, and wood flooring and ceilings in the main living area to create a warm and inviting atmosphere — perfect for accommodating a blended family of six, along with four dogs and a cat.
